What Is a Bind Key?
A Bind Key is permanently linked to your Microsoft account. Once bound, you can download and reinstall the product anytime without needing the key again.
Before You Begin
- Your Visio or Project Bind Key (received via email and in your account)
- A Microsoft account
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- A stable internet connection
Step 1 — Bind Your Key
Go to setup.office.com and sign in with your Microsoft account. Enter your 25-character Bind Key and click “Next”.
Important: This key will be permanently linked to your Microsoft account. Make sure you’re signed in with the account you want to use.
Step 2 — Download & Install
Since you have a Bind Key, you can download directly from your Microsoft account. Go to account.microsoft.com/services, find your product, and click “Install.”
Alternatively, use our download tool to choose a specific version and language:
Run the installer and wait for it to complete.
Step 3 — Sign In to Activate
Open Visio or Project, sign in with your Microsoft account, and the product will activate automatically.
Verify activation at File → Account.
Reinstalling Later
Since your key is bound to your account, you can always reinstall from account.microsoft.com/services — no product key needed.
