What Is a Bind Key?
A Bind Key is a product key that gets permanently linked to your Microsoft account. Once bound, you can download and reinstall Office anytime from your account without needing the key again.
Before You Begin
- Your Office Bind Key (received via email and in your account)
- A Microsoft account (create one free at account.microsoft.com if needed)
- A stable internet connection
Step 1 — Go to the Microsoft Redeem Page
Open your browser and go to setup.office.com. Sign in with the Microsoft account you want to permanently bind the key to.
Important: The key will be permanently linked to this Microsoft account. Choose the account you want to use long-term.
Step 2 — Enter Your Bind Key
Enter your 25-character product key, select your country and language, then click “Next”.
The key is now bound to your Microsoft account. You’ll see a confirmation message.
Step 3 — Download & Install Office
Since you have a Bind Key, you can download Office directly from your Microsoft account. Go to account.microsoft.com/services, find your Office product, and click “Install.”
Alternatively, use our download tool to choose a specific version and language:
Run the downloaded file and wait for installation to complete (10-20 minutes).
Step 4 — Sign In to Activate
Open any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.) and sign in with your Microsoft account. Office will activate automatically.
Verify by going to File → Account — you should see “Product Activated.”
Reinstalling Office Later
Since your key is bound to your Microsoft account, you can always reinstall Office by:
- Going to account.microsoft.com/services
- Signing in with the same Microsoft account
- Clicking “Install” to download Office again
No product key needed for reinstallation.
